Mission

In line with the mission, vision, values, principles, and strategic objectives of our University, the mission of the Department is:

(1) to ensure that students are equipped with a comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental institutions of sociology, its historical development, contemporary approaches, and major findings;

(2) to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for conducting sociological scientific research and practical applications.

Vision

The vision of the Department is:

(1) to educate research-oriented sociologists by taking into account the socio-economic conditions of Türkiye;

(2) to systematically collect and evaluate data on the social structure and social issues of Türkiye, particularly those of the Aegean Region, and to incorporate these findings into academic courses; and

(3) to equip undergraduate students with the knowledge and competencies required to pursue and successfully carry out graduate (Master’s and Doctoral) programs following the completion of their undergraduate education.
