Objectives

• To inform majoring students with the basic institutions, development, contemporary approaches, and findings of sociology
• To endow students with the ability to conduct scientific enquiry and implementation in the field of sociology
• To train sociologists oriented towards applied sociology serving for the socio-economic needs of Turkey
• To gather and assess systematic data on Turkey, especially on the social structure and societal problems of the Aegean Region and to address these in classes
• To endow majoring students with the knowledge and ability to further their studies in masters and PhD programs
• To train students in theory and practice so that they will be able to perform as teaching members at universities, researchers, and specialists in public and private sector
